Our Mission

The mission of Dixon Educational Learning Academy is to ensure success for all students by providing specific, measurable, and attainable goals that reflect the school’s vision. The school plan will provide the basic direction for our school through focus and emphasis providing academic curriculum, preparing students to successfully interact with all.

Instructional Offerings

Accelerated Math, Accelerated Reading, DAPCEP, Title 1 Tutoring (afterschool), Special Education, Mandarin Chinese, and Music. The school is tech-savvy with SMART boards and SMART tables in many of the classrooms.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Boys and girls basketball, Chess, Mentoring Programs, Middle School Football, and Gardening Programs.

Collaborations/Community Partnerships

Earth Day, Gleaners Food Bank, GM Cares, Healthy Choices, Joy-Southfield Community, Oak Pointe Church, Osborn Community, NSO,  PAL (formerly LSCO), Project Healthy Schools, Second Cup of Coffee, University of Michigan, and Parent Workshops.

Uniform Requirements

Pre-K-5: navy blue or black pants w/red golf shirt

Grade 6: black pants with dark green golf shirt

Grade 7: khaki or black pants with navy blue shirt

Grade 8: khaki or black pants with black shirt

Vision

The vision of Dixon Educational Learning Academy is to ensure that students will remain actively engaged in the learning process as they acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to become responsible, contributing citizens within the local, state, national, and world community.

We will ensure that our parents remain actively involved as advocates for their children and supporters of the school programs and staff.

Within a nurturing, safe environment, staff members will actively engage all students in the learning process and teach students to become critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and life-long learners.

 

Belief Statement

The school and community beleive unconditionally that all students can achieve and that we as educators can find different ways to reach all students despite their backgrounds, family structures, and any disadvantages they may be experiencing. All students have infinite potential and our goal is to ensure they reach their goals through excellent instruction, maintaining a climate that is motivating and conducive to learning.
